A free program by the state government will help landlords navigate difficult tenancy situations.
Fair Trading designed the Tenancy Complaint Service as a cheaper, faster alternative to the NSW Civil and Administration Tribunal, which also rules on tenancy disputes.
Landlords, property managers and tenants can call up expert staff to receive advice and help with negotiating a compromise.
The service was officially launched yesterday but has been operating for six months, with 88 per cent of complaints being resolved.
Investors can access the support staff over the phone or recieve an on-site visit in their home or office.
Issues may include repairs, access to premises, non-compliance with conditions, breaking or ending a lease, condition reports, rental increases and arrears of less than 14 days.
The initiative is similar to Queensland's Residential Tenancy Authority, which also provides advice and dispute resolution services.
