There are several apps that can help with design, measurements or even just providing some inspiration for a room makeover. Finding apps that are worth downloading can be hard work, but we have researched a few and they are listed below.

iScape free
Putting an amazing landscaping idea into action can be difficult, especially when you won’t be sure about how it will look until you are finished. The iScape Free app gives you the opportunity to see your options before the work is done and you’ve spent any money. There is a regularly updated image database which gives you a variety of options to try. Use the camera tool to add your own photos, use the pen tool to replace different textures such as grass, pavers etc and you can also insert objects like trees, furniture, walkways etc.

Metricon homes
The Metricon homes app has a lot of tools and options to help give you inspiration. You are able to browse through Metricon home designs, display homes, home and land packages, image galleries and LookBook all in the palm of your hand. Even if you have other builders in mind or you haven’t made up your mind yet, it is worth having a look at this app to give you some ideas.

iHandy carpenter
The iHandy carpenter app gives you a number of different tools in the palm of your hand. This app is great for checking that items are level and is easy to carry around in your pocket throughout the house. Some of the tools that you will find in this app include a spirit level, plumb bob, surface level, ruler and protractor.

Home Builder Pro Calcs
This app can be useful for builders, however, it is just as useful for home owners too. There are calculators for concrete and paving, electrical, floors, walls and ceilings, foundations, framing, heating & A/C, landscape and yard and more. The app can easily switch to metric calculations and can be used just about anywhere that you are.

Houzz Interior Design Ideas
It is easy to get inspired with your house design with over 2,000,000 ideas in this one app. You can create an idea book in the app with your favourite designs. There are also discussion forums in the app where you can chat with other contractors, designers and architects about any tips or advice you need. Whether you are building a new home or just updating one room, it’s worth giving this app a go.
