Mortgage brokers offer home buyers more than just a home loan; they offer help, support, knowledge, expertise as well as confidence – all things first home buyers can usually need help with.
I interviewed a couple of first home buyers on the weekend who arranged their first home loan through a mortgage broker.
For them, enlisting the services of a mortgage broker meant they could secure a much larger loan size, because of the time the broker took to look into their servicing capabilities.
The broker also helped them apply for the first home owner grant and continues to help them to manage their finances several years on – such as assisting them fund a recent overseas trip without compromising their mortgage.
According to Mortgage Choice spokesperson Kristy Sheppard, few people are aware of exactly how far a broker’s service extends.
“Extra free services brokers regularly provide include submitting state/federal grant and concession applications, organising rental lodgings for a customer who’s between selling and buying, running seminars, sourcing property reports, educating about loan structuring and home loan health checks.”
In other words, a good mortgage broker can help you in just about every financial aspect you need, or at least point you in the right direction.
If you’re looking for a bit of guidance and an expert hand, a mortgage broker might be a worthwhile consideration.
Just remember to look for a broker who is a member of the MFAA – the industry body for mortgage brokers – and be sure to ask around friends and family for any recommendations.
A good, professional broker will deliver the highest quality service.
