According to a recent First National Real Estate survey of 1,200 women from around Australia, a large percentage of respondents felt more attention was paid to their male partner in instances where a couple is looking at properties.

In addition, 28 per cent of older women feel they are not considered or listened to by real estate agents during the property purchase process.

First National communications manager Stewart Bunn said agents that ignore women in the property purchase process run the risk of alienating a major buying audience.

“Women play a critical role in the property purchasing decision, and as such, it is crucial agents take this into account,” Mr Bunn said.

“Statistics show the number of women planning to purchase property on their own has more than doubled in the last two years alone, so they are an important part of the real estate market.”
