World Cup matches could score you strata problems

“Festivities in the early hours can strain relations between neighbouring unit residents and we have been hearing reports of World Cup gatherings causing disturbances,” Mr Mifsud said.

“With the tournament being played in Russia, some matches are being played at 3am or 4am Australian time and some fans are organising gatherings at those times to watch the games.

“There can also be additional noise when guests leave the building in the early hours and bottles are dropped in recycling bins.”

Mr Mifsud said that noisy parties in the middle of the night can result in extended disputes between neighbours, with some annoyed residents getting revenge on the perpetrators.

“Early morning vacuuming in the neighbouring unit can be one example of neighbourhood revenge,” the partner said.

Mr Mifsud said that with more families now mixing with younger residents in apartment complexes, there have also been more issues to deal with such as noise complaints.

“While the World Cup only comes around every four years and football supporters love to watch the action and support the Socceroos and other nations, it’s also time to remember to be considerate, particularly if you are watching and celebrating in an apartment complex,” Mr Mifsud said.

“Unfortunately, there will be some football parties where guests behave badly and excessive noise and other issues could prompt complaints from neighbouring residents.”

Mr Mifsud said that property bylaws will require any noise able to be heard by the neighbours ending by a certain time, usually before 10pm.

“If you are partying and having friends gathering after that time, avoid any clatter and stomping from yelling that may disturb the occupants of the unit below and neighbouring properties,” the partner said.
