Multi-million dollars worth of construction and housing projects will be brought forward by the South Australian government in a move to stimulate the industry.
Premier Jay Weatherill said the acceleration of the projects will boost employment and support the housing and construction industry.
“Last year we took action to stimulate demand which is showing some positive improvements on the horizon,” Mr Weatherill said.
“We are now bringing forward more than $70 million of government building, construction and capital maintenance projects to feed supply and support South Australian companies and the thousands of workers in the housing and construction industry.”
The projects to be brought forward include nearly $27 million in Housing SA projects, with a further $8 million from the National Building Funding for a $4.6 million mixed-used project at.
It also includes a $23.6 million development of the 18 Better Neighbourhood projects, including the construction of 170 houses.
“Accelerating these projects will create jobs for South Australians and business for local builders, companies and tradespeople,” Mr Weatherill said.
