A low property price isn’t the only way to judge a location’s affordability, as this economist knows all too well.

 The chief economist at PRD, Dr Diaswati Mardiasmo, lifts a lid on what factors should really be taken into consideration when defining a region as “affordable”.

Unpacking the changing definition of “regional” living, Diaswati shares her methodology and reasoning behind her latest report, which uncovers the top 10 regional affordable areas in 2022.

The economist also lends her thoughts on the transformative ways Australians are now able to research property and gives some insight into how next month’s election could play out for investors.
