Rhodes, located approximately 12 kilometres west of Sydney's central business district, is a suburb within the City of Canada Bay. Positioned on a peninsula between Bray Bay and Homebush Bay, the Parramatta River borders it to the north and is adjacent to Concord West, Liberty Grove, and Wentworth Point. 

The suburb has undergone significant transformation from its industrial roots into a high-density residential and commercial area. Notable developments include the Rhodes Waterside Shopping Centre and Rhodes Central, which feature major retailers such as IKEA, ALDI, Coles, and Woolworths. The area also features commercial offices, including Rhodes Corporate Park, which is home to businesses such as Citibank and Nestlé.

As per the 2021 Census, Rhodes had a population of 11,453 residents. The median age was 32 years, indicating a relatively young demographic. Approximately 23.5% of the population was born in Australia, with significant communities from China (27.7%), South Korea (9.5%), India (6.1%), Hong Kong (3.6%), and the Philippines (2.1%). English was the only language spoken at home by 21.0% of residents, while other languages included Mandarin (30.2%), Korean (10.6%), Cantonese (8.3%), Hindi (3.2%), and Arabic (2.1%). The majority of dwellings (95.1%) were flats or apartments, reflecting the suburb's high-density residential character.

Public transportation in Rhodes is accessible, with the Rhodes railway station serving the T9 Northern Line of the Sydney Trains network. This station provides residents with direct connections to the Sydney CBD and other parts of the city. Additionally, bus routes operate through the suburb, offering further connectivity to surrounding areas. 

Despite the suburb's growth, infrastructure development has lagged, with delays in projects such as a promised ferry wharf, train station upgrades, and a primary school. Residents have expressed concerns over traffic congestion and pedestrian safety, particularly around the train station and shopping centres.

The Rhodes Waterside Shopping Centre and Rhodes Central offer residents convenient shopping and dining options. 

Recreational facilities in Rhodes include McIlwaine Park, King George V Park, Brays Bay Reserve, and Rhodes/Rotary Park. The Kokoda Track Memorial Walkway connects Brays Bay Reserve with Concord Hospital, serving as a memorial to those killed in Papua New Guinea on the Kokoda Track during World War II. The suburb features a foreshore path and cycleway, linking to an extensive network of foreshore parks in Sydney.
