Connells Point lies approximately 20 kilometres south of the Sydney central business district. It appears in the Georges River Council local government area and forms part of the St George region.
At the 2021 census, it had a population of 2,884 individuals. Around two-thirds (66.9 per cent) of residents were born in Australia, with China as the next most common country of birth at 10.4 per cent.
English only was spoken at home by 56.4 per cent, while Mandarin, Greek and Cantonese were also noticeably represented. The most frequent religious affiliations were Catholic (26.9 per cent), No Religion (24.7 per cent), Eastern Orthodox (18.4 per cent) and Anglican (9.3 per cent).
The suburb spans about 1.5 square kilometres and includes eight parks, occupying nearly 11 per cent of its area. Its households tend to be professional couples with children, with owner-occupation rates rising from 89.9 per cent in 2016 to 87.7 per cent in 2021.
Houses carry a median sale price of around AUD 2.65 million and have seen a drop of about 4.9 per cent in the past year, with rental yields near 2.2 per cent and median weekly rent of approximately AUD 1,250.
Units show a median sale price of about AUD 1.335 million, with rental yields around 3.9 per cent and weekly rents near AUD 850.
Connells Point offers public primary education through Connells Point Public School, which was opened in the early 1930s.
Transport links include feeder roads via Connells Point Road from Hurstville and connections through Oatley or Hurstville stations to the Sydney CBD by train in around 30–34 minutes or by bus in approximately one hour.
Essential amenities are found in neighbouring South Hurstville, including small shopping strips, supermarkets, fast‑food outlets and other services across the road in nearby South Hurstville.
Recreational facilities include Donnelly Park, Poulton Park and Connells Point Reserve on Connells Bay, home to the Connells Point Sailing Club and the Connells Point Rovers football club, with the Sea Scout Hall adjacent to the sailing club.
