The 2021 Census recorded around 3,200 residents living in Sylvania Waters. The median age in the suburb stood at 43 years, with children under 15 comprising 16.6 per cent and residents aged 65 and over making up 19.9 per cent.

Around 35 per cent of residents were born overseas, with the most common birthplaces being China (6.2 per cent), Hong Kong (2.1 per cent), Greece (1.9 per cent), England (1.8 per cent) and Egypt (1.7 per cent).
