Erina lies about 7 kilometres east of Gosford’s central business district and approximately 81 kilometres north‑north‑east of the Sydney CBD, positioning it within the Central Coast region under Central Coast Council administration.
It covers around 5.1 square kilometres and recorded an estimated resident population of about 5,205 in 2024, indicating growth from 4,774 in 2016.
The suburb serves as the largest commercial hub on the Central Coast, anchored by Erina Fair, a single‑level shopping centre that hosts over 250 stores and occupies more than 113,000 m² of retail space.
Erina Fair draws visitors from across the region and includes major retailers such as Myer, Kmart, Aldi, Coles, JB Hi‑Fi, a cinema, Erina Ice Arena and additional services.
The community exhibits demographic trends toward older age groups, with the largest cohort falling between 70 and 79 years. A majority of residents were born in Australia and speak only English at home, and prevalent religious affiliations include Catholic and Anglican.
Public transport use remains low, with as little as 1.9 per cent of commuters using it in 2021, while more than half travel by car and over a quarter work from home.
The suburb relies on nearby Gosford railway station for train connections to Sydney and Newcastle, and bus services operate across key roads and the Erina Fair precinct.
Essential services and establishments concentrate around the retail precinct. In addition to Erina Fair, smaller shopping centres such as Fountain Plaza and Karalta Plaza support local needs. At the same time, Greenlife Erina offers a retirement community with proximity to health services, cafes, and coastal destinations.
Erina hosts educational facilities, including Erina High School, which educates around 720 students from Years 7–12, and other local schools support educational access across age groups.
Recreational options include the Erina Ice Arena, located within Erina Fair, which serves both local leagues and regional events. The suburb’s mix of retail, education and leisure—framed by accessible transport and suburban roads—defines its activity patterns and community rhythm.
