Bolton Point is a residential lakeside suburb in the City of Lake Macquarie, NSW, with postcode 2283, situated on the western shore of Lake Macquarie between Fennell Bay, Woodrising and Toronto.

The suburb is about 24 kilometres south-west of Newcastle’s central business district, with The Boulevarde and surrounding roads providing connections towards Toronto, Glendale and other parts of western Lake Macquarie.

The 2021 Census recorded about 2,100 residents in Bolton Point, with separate houses accounting for much of the suburb’s residential accommodation. Residential streets extend from the Lake Macquarie shoreline into elevated areas, with public reserves and bushland forming part of the local landscape.

Bolton Point does not have a railway station, with nearby Fassifern Station providing passenger rail connections towards Newcastle, the Central Coast and Sydney. Bus services operate through Bolton Point and connect the suburb with Toronto, Glendale and other western Lake Macquarie communities.

Bolton Point Public School provides primary education within the suburb, while secondary schools and additional education facilities are available in Toronto and surrounding areas.

Residents have access to some local services, while nearby Toronto and Glendale offer supermarkets, pharmacies, medical practices, and a broader range of retail and professional services. Healthcare services are available in Toronto and other surrounding centres, with larger hospitals and specialist facilities located elsewhere in Lake Macquarie and Newcastle.

Bolton Point has direct frontage to Lake Macquarie, providing opportunities for boating, kayaking, fishing and other water-based recreation.

Bolton Point Foreshore includes public open space and access to the lake for walking, picnicking and informal recreation. The suburb also contains local parks and playgrounds that provide additional outdoor spaces within its residential areas. The nearby Toronto Foreshore includes parks, walking areas, boating facilities, and other recreational spaces along the western shore of Lake Macquarie.

The nearby Fassifern-to-Toronto shared pathway follows part of the former railway corridor and provides opportunities for walking and cycling. Bushland reserves around Bolton Point and adjoining suburbs provide further settings for walking, outdoor activity and observing native vegetation and wildlife.
