The conservation area contains tracks used for bushwalking and mountain biking, with routes extending through forested valleys towards the coastline.

Merewether Beach is nearby and offers opportunities for swimming, surfing, fishing, and coastal walking. Merewether Ocean Baths provides public ocean swimming facilities along the adjoining coastline.

The Bathers Way coastal walk connects Merewether with beaches, parks and coastal viewpoints further north towards central Newcastle. Local reserves and nearby sporting facilities provide additional opportunities for walking, play and organised recreation.
