Surburb overview

Pacific Pines is a northern suburb of Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. Established in 1994, it is approximately 12.8 kilometres west-northwest of Southport and about 16.0 kilometres northwest of Surfers Paradise.

Pacific Pines offers a suburban environment with ample parklands and recreational areas. It is located between the Pacific Motorway (M1) and the northeastern side of the Nerang State Forest. The suburb encompasses an area of approximately 9.2 square kilometres, with 37 parks covering nearly 17 per cent of the total area.

In 1990, Stockland acquired 800 hectares of land in the area, designing it as a residential community with the capacity for 5,800 house lots. Initially gazetted as a neighbourhood within Gaven on 9 September 1994, Pacific Pines became a separate suburb on 7 February 2003.

As of the 2021 census, Pacific Pines had a population of 16,757 residents, with a median age of 34. Children aged 0 to 14 comprised 23.8 per cent of the population, and people aged 65 years and over accounted for 6.4 per cent. The most common ancestries were English (28.7 per cent), Australian (22.5 per cent), Scottish (6.8 per cent), Irish (6.7 per cent), and Maori (3.4 per cent).

Pacific Pines hosts several educational institutions. Pacific Pines State School is located on Santa Isobel Boulevard and has an enrolment of 949 students, including a special education program. Park Lake State School is situated at 1 Shoalhaven Avenue. , it enrolled 992 students in 2017 and includes a special education program. Jubilee Primary School is a Catholic primary (Prep-6) school located at 34 Manra Way, with an enrolment of 593 students in 2017. Pacific Pines State High School is a government secondary (7-12) school on Archipelago Street, with 1,377 students enrolled in 2017, including a special education program.

The suburb offers a range of public amenities, including a community hall, cricket fields, netball, AFL and tennis courts, parks with half basketball courts, skate parks, and two off-leash dog parks. The Pacific Pines Panthers Basketball Club, established in 2013, represents age groups from under 9 to under 20 and falls under the Gold Coast City Regional Basketball Association.
