Covering an area of about 65.3 square kilometres, it lies between the towns of Guilderton to the south and Seabird to the north, with the Indian Ocean forming its western boundary.

The name "Gabbadah" originates from an Aboriginal term meaning "mouthful of water," referring to the area where the Moore River meets the Indian Ocean. This location was initially known as Gabbadah until it was gazetted as the town of Guilderton in 1951.

As of the 2021 census, Gabbadah had a population of 764 residents, making it the third most populated locality in the Shire of Gingin, following Gingin and Lancelin. The community comprises a mix of families, professionals, and retirees, contributing to a diverse demographic profile.

Modern-day Gabbadah encompasses semi-rural residential estates, including Redfield Park Estate and Sovereign Hill Estate, located east of Indian Ocean Drive. These estates offer a blend of rural living with proximity to coastal amenities. Additionally, two sand and limestone quarries operate near the boundary with Guilderton, contributing to the local economy.

While Gabbadah has limited commercial facilities, residents and visitors can access amenities in nearby towns. Guilderton, for instance, offers recreational activities along the Moore River, including fishing, boating, and picnicking. The area is also known for its natural beauty, attracting those seeking a tranquil environment.

Gabbadah is accessible via Indian Ocean Drive, which bisects the locality and provides connectivity to Perth and other coastal towns. Public transportation options are limited; private vehicles are the most practical means of travel to and from the area.

Gabbadah's unique character in Western Australia is due to its combination of historical significance, rural charm, and coastal proximity.
