Supermarket giant to bring hundreds of jobs
A major supermarket chain has given South Australia a vote of confidence with its decision to invest hundreds of millions of dollars across the state.
German supermarket giant Aldi has outlined plans to roll out up to 50 stores across South Australia, which will create more than 900 new jobs.

Premier Jay Weatherill said the decision is a “huge vote of confidence in the strength of the South Australian economy.”
Meanwhile, manufacturing, innovation and trade minister, Tom Kenyon, has labelled Aldi’s investment as ‘substantial’.
“This is the type of large-scale state-wide investment we want in SA to boost our retail sector, which already directly employs more than 92,000 with a turnover of more than $4.3 billion in the December quarter last year," he said.
“Aldi Australia has a strong retail track record since setting up in 2001 and over the past 12 years has opened five distribution centres and more than 300 stores in NSW, Victoria, south east Queensland and the ACT.
“The company has indicated it’s looking forward to working closely with both the state and local governments as they look to secure a suitable warehouse and store locations before commencing operations in South Australia.
“I understand, that Aldi will be meeting with officials from the Department of Planning tomorrow to assist them with issues, such as potential sites,” Mr Kenyon said.
