Located just north of Ballarat, Alfredton is a thriving suburb that offers a tranquil suburban lifestyle with easy access to the city’s amenities.
Originally part of the Cardigan suburb, the present Alfredton was named in honour of Prince Alfred, Duke of Edinburgh, following his visit in 1867.
Known for its family-friendly atmosphere and blend of historic and contemporary homes, Alfredton is popular with families, retirees, and investors.
The suburb features iconic landmarks such as the Arch of Victory and a World War I memorial, which marked the city’s entrance and the beginning of the Avenue of Honour.

“Alfredton is one of the largest suburbs in Ballarat with 13,000-plus residents.
“It includes a mix of newer estates to the south and established areas to the north with large blocks of 600 square metres to 1,000 square metres, with post-war weatherboard and brick cottages.”
The suburb has experienced significant population growth, increasing by 28.3 per cent between 2011 and 2016, indicating its rising popularity among families and professionals.
