More than one third of WA homes fails to sell

More than one third of Western Australian homes failed to sell during their first listing in the past year, an informal RE/MAX WA survey revealed.

Thirty-seven metropolitan suburbs were surveyed -- plus Bunberry, where 35 per cent of homes were unable to be sold during their first listing in 2011.

RE/MAX managing director Geoff Baldwin said that an estimated 30,000 properties failed to sell out of 77,000 put on the market in WA.

Mr Baldwin said that this was most likely due to unrealistic price expectations from vendors.

Properties that did not sell during their first listing were sold either during second listing or did not sell.
