$3.9 billion for Perth transport
Perth is set to see huge financial contributions from the government to address transport problems across the capital in the wake of a growing population.
With $5.15 million dedicated from the state government towards the light rail planning over the next two years, the capital is gearing up for significant growth.

With a total of $3.9 billion being spent on new and ongoing transport projects over 2012 to 2013, including a dedication of $105 million for traffic congestion initiatives in the CBD, treasurer Christian Porter said that the transport system would underpin the State’s economic development.
“Perth is undergoing a major transformation due to projects such as the Perth Waterfront Development and Perth City Link, and we are providing the solutions to manage the impact of these projects and cater for our growing population,” Mr Porter said.
Transport Minister Troy Buswell added to Mr Porter’s comments by saying that it would deliver transport to both metropolitan and regional located people, such as $57 million on the Graham Farmer Freeway tunnel and Mitchell Freeway.
“A further $47.6million from the Perth Parking Management Fund will provide new CAT buses, a new Green CAT service from Leederville to the CBD via West Perth and CBD cycle and bus lanes,” Mr Buswell said.
