The latest findings from proptech firm InfoTrack showed that Liverpool has maintained its position as the most popular NSW location among first home buyers for the fourth consecutive quarter.
According to InfoTrack’s sales data for Q2 of 2025, the Liverpool postcode of 2170 continued to record the highest sales volumes to first home buyers in NSW, marking an entire year the market has held the top ranking.
InfoTrack’s head of property Australia, Lee Bailie, said the 2170 postcode’s domination of the first home buyer market was further evidence of the City of Liverpool’s long-term growth prospects.
“Postcode 2170 encompasses over a dozen suburbs, including Liverpool, Moorebank, and Prestons,” Bailie said.
“It forms part of a key growth corridor in Sydney’s south-west, driven by major infrastructure projects – such as those linked to the Western Sydney Airport – and strong employment prospects.”
InfoTrack’s data for all buyer cohorts showed that Liverpool (2170) came second only to Marsden Park (2765) in North Western Sydney, which secured the highest sales volumes due to the ongoing development in the area.
Although Greater Western Sydney dominated for sales last quarter, InfoTrack said that three regional locations performed well, including Jervis Bay (2540) which debuted on the list with the ninth highest amount of sales.
“The postcode of 2540, which primarily covers areas in and around Jervis Bay, is a coastal location which has long been popular as a holiday destination,” Bailie said.
“This regional location appeals to those seeking natural beauty and outdoor recreational opportunities, while still maintaining a close community connection.”
Bailie said that Jervis Bay’s heightened sales volumes reflected the growing popularity of regional NSW, joining North Wagga Wagga (2650) and Wyong (2259) as popular locations outside the Greater Western Sydney area.
“Buyers are looking to those areas outside of the major cities where they can get higher value for their dollar, be it more bedrooms or added land,” he said.
InfoTrack’s report also showed a slight shift in preferences for property types, with interest for houses slightly falling from 60.14 per cent in Q1 to 59.73 per cent in Q2, but remaining the preferred property type.
While vacant land purchases still registered as the least preferred property type, Bailie said the property type still grew in popularity during the second quarter of 2025.
“Vacant land was the only property type to record an increase, rising to 9.45 per cent last quarter compared to 8.33 per cent at the start of the year,” Bailie concluded.
