Infrastructure to open after three years of construction
Victoria’s $849 million Peninsula Link project is opening up to the public, announced minister for roads Terry Mulder.
The 27-kilometre freeway required “45 separate bridges and 54 kilometres of dual lane road,” the November newsletter about the project said.

“By the time the project is completed early next year we will have laid nearly 400,000 tonnes of asphalt, planted 1.7 million trees and shrubs and installed more than 6,400 noise wall panels.”
On 25 November 2012 there is an open community day to show the project, however smaller elements are yet to be finished.
Part of the $38 billion Victorian Transport Plan, it was planned to reduce congestion in Frankston and the Mornington Peninsula.
When open, it is said to reduce a full trip between the EastLink-Frankston Freeway interchange at Carrum Downs and the Mornington Peninsula Freeway at Mount Matha from 57 minutes to 17 minutes, making the area much more accessible.
