Townsville to receive boost to housing and land

Construction has begun on a new residential project in Townsville, which will deliver much needed housing and infrastructure to the region.

The Cosgrove Residential Project in the foothills of Mount Louisa will consist of 2,700 lots, where the suburb will house thousands of families, shops and other businesses.

Minister for natural resources and mines, Andrew Cripps, said the project will enable Townsville to accommodate the increasing residential growth on the Bohle Plains.

“This is an important project for families looking to buy their first home in one of Townsville’s fastest growing areas, and over the life of this project, I expect to see Cosgrove develop into a thriving community hub,” Mr Cripps said.

“The first round of land releases will occur in August of this year, and by mid-2014 we hope to have Cosgrove’s first residents in their homes.”

The development also features plans for parks and open spaces, and an environmental corridor along the Bohle River.
