The time is ripe for investors and home buyers to purchase in Far North Queensland’s Daintree region, according to Raine & Horne.

Popular Port DouglasPort Douglas, QLD Port Douglas, QLD is offering very affordable real estate according to the principal of Raine & Horne’s new Port Douglas office, Travis Schumacher, and his business partner David Cotton, who also run the nearby Mossman office.

The region's combination of affordable homes and a perennially popular holiday route are driving the property market in Mossman and Port Douglas, Mr Schumacher said.

"Our Mossman office has been performing well, but there was an opportunity to extend our service and offer something new to buyers in the Port Douglas market.”

The property market around Port Douglas has recently taken a hit, as a result of the economic downturn and dwindling tourist numbers.

"There are some really good opportunities available right now - for instance, we can offer three bedroom homes close to the water in Wonga Beach for around $250,000, and this represents fantastic value."

Properties in Port Douglas itself are also affordably priced, Mr Schumacher said.

"We have beautiful four bedroom homes with full air conditioning on large blocks for around $400,000.

"If you want to pay a bit more, we have properties overlooking the golf course or the water for between $750,000 and $800,000 - these would have been priced around the $1 million mark a few years ago."

"I sometimes stand in a home during an inspection and pinch myself at what good value these properties are for the money," Mr Schumacher added.
