Less than half want own home: Survey
Home ownership is a long term goal for less than half of Australians with many having alternative prosperity goals, a new survey has revealed.
Forty-nine per cent of respondents put home ownership as a long term aim, opposite family health and happiness, the number one goal for 69 per cent of participants, found the rediATM Prosperity Survey.

When describing financial and non-financial measurements of prosperity combined, only forty-six per cent of people considered themselves to be ‘quite’ or ‘very’ prosperous. A quarter answered that they did not have enough money.
The survey was conducted by Galaxy Research and commissioned by Cuscal. It asked questions to 1,525 people across six states.
"The change of aspiration revealed by the survey, combined with more sensible management of home finances, suggests that while 2011 has been a tough year, Australians are optimistic about the outlook for 2012," said Cuscal general manager David Heine.
