Australia ranked highly as a country for property investing boasting stability, security and capital growthtate, the 2012 Annual Foreign Investment Survey from the Association of Foreign Investors in Real Estate (AFIRE) found.

The United States, Canada and Germany preceded Australia in this category.

Sydney also performed well compared to other capital cities, being marked as the fourth most popular city for real estate investing, only slightly less popular than Hong Kong, Shanghai and Singapore.

Australia was also listed as a country “providing the best opportunity for capital appreciation” being ranked fourth, behind the United States, Brazil and China.

The annual survey is based on votes from 200 investment groups that make up the AFIRE body, comprising of 21 countries.
