Top NSW rental yield suburbs October 2015

Figures from CoreLogic RP Data show that the top five gross yielding suburbs across New South Wales for houses and units include only one Sydney suburb – Winston Hills in western Sydney. CoreLogic RP Data figures list Winston Hills’ gross rental yield for units at 9.7 per cent, putting it fourth highest in the state.

Two suburbs from the top 10 rental yields in NSW are situated in the Central Coast of NSW. Wagstaffe scored an 11.6 per cent yield and Killcare 14.1 per cent, both for houses.

Travelling south, Huskisson, Vincentia, Mollymook, and Broulee all made the top 10 suburbs for highest rental yields, all of which are popular tourist destinations. Huskisson made the list for both units and houses, seeing rental yields at 14 per cent for houses, and 12.6 per cent for units.

The coastal outlier of the list sits between Port Macquarie and Coffs Harbour and is known as Scotts Head. This scenic tourist destination suburb topped the list of rental yields for houses in NSW with a yield of 16.7 per cent.

This figure could be skewed due to short-term stays and holiday rentals and likely doesn’t reflect the year-round figure for investors in the area. Nevertheless, the CoreLogic RP Data figures put it at the top of the list based on this quarter’s figures.

New South Wales’ only inland suburb on the list this quarter, Thurgoona, is in the regional city of Albury. Thurgoona’s gross rental yield for September was a strong 22 per cent for units.
