CEO and co-founder leaves buyer’s agent agency Cohen Handler

The CEO and co-founder of buyer’s agent agency Cohen Handler has announced he has left the business in order to pursue other “exciting business ventures”.

Ben Handler, after working together with co-founder Simon Cohen for eight years, has announced his departure of the buyer’s agent agency.

“Building Cohen Handler from scratch when people did not think the buyer’s agent model was possible has been a phenomenal learning experience and opportunity to develop my skill set,” Mr Handler said.

“It’s been an incredibly difficult decision to move on. But I do so knowing the business is in its strongest ever position, and set up for continued success. After eight years, I felt it was time for something new.

“I have lots of exciting business ventures in the pipeline, and I’m looking forward to the next chapter in my life.”

Mr Cohen said that while he is “obviously disappointed” at not working with Mr Handler in the future, he said his partner “will go on and achieve great things in his new endeavours, and I’ll be cheering him on”.

“It’s been a great privilege building Cohen Handler with Ben. I couldn’t have asked for a better partner in revolutionising the Australian property landscape,” Mr Cohen said.

In the interim, Mr Cohen will step in to cover Mr Handler’s position in the short-term.

The business was started in 2009 with just $5,000, and has evolved from two people to a staff of over 70 staff in six offices across three countries, purchasing more than $3 billion in the process.

One such business venture Mr Handler is currently pursuing is his position as CEO of the Buyers Agency Institute, which was started in October 2017.
